From A Further Distance

“From A Distance”
From a distance
The world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance
The ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.
From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It’s the voice of hope,
it’s the voice of peace,
it’s the voice of every man.
From a distance we all have enough,
And no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs,
And no disease,
No hungry mouths to feed.
From a distance we are instruments
Marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope,
Playing songs of peace.
They’re the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance.
From a distance you look like my friend,
Even though we are at war.
From a distance
I just cannot comprehend
What all this fighting is for.
From a distance there is harmony,
And it echoes through the land.
And it’s the hope of hopes,
It’s the love of loves,
it’s the heart of every man.
It’s the hope of hopes,
Iit’s the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.
And God is watching us,
God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance.
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching.
God is watching us………. from a distance”
– Better Midler
From a further distance
This gets a little trippy
Beyond the above perspective
Making no matter what you do
Most importantly insignificant
Perspective
“B: the capacity to view things in their
true relations or relative importance”
M-W.com
While the above seems spot on
Is absolutely a global view to see
My tendency is to go a bit further
(Because like Tommy Shaw
Of Styx sang, I’ve got way, way
“Too Much Time On My Hands”)
“When you change the way you look at things,
the things you look at change.”
– Dr Wayne Dyer
To the ridiculously sublime
By putting a long tethered
“You Are Here” icon above
Where you, me, they, are at
With that in mind, let’s go
To see things as they are
Beyond Bette Midler’s song
Looking from above or any
“Side” of the sphere will do
In any direction you choose
Assuming you are in your house
Staring at one of many screens
Thankfully reading this nonsense
(While wondering why one man
Is getting such endless “screen time”)
In the light or dark side of the earth
Rising above it all to see the neighborhood
With its streets and buildings
Cars parked or moving about
As it all gets smaller and smaller
Where you still “look like my friend”
Some milling anxiously about like
Ants on an ant farm seeking
Shelter, food and everything else
Above factories and fields for
Manufacturing consumables
And destroying beautiful land
Splattershot with various
Building offices and prisons
One in the same really
Hospitals and cemeteries
Airports and oceans
Snow capped mountains
Sprinkled in colorful
Coat covered corpses to
Seeing under the horizon
Russia and Ukraine
Setting off deadly fireworks
“Even though we are at war.
From a distance
I just cannot comprehend
What all this fighting is for.”
Rising up or sinking below the moon
Keeping time with the tides
Feeling the warmth of the sun
Observing the planets in our
Neck of the woods of the Milky Way
Continuing on the trajectory of
“Eternal blackness beyond the stars (that)
We think our wisdom will get that far”
“If Eternity Should Fail”
– Iron Maiden
Only to pass other galaxies
So far away that finally the tethered
“You Are Here” sign starts getting small too
Looking oddly like
Mary Poppins with an umbrella
You slow and pause to reflect
How miniscule and tiny
What once was the earth as a speck
Followed by the Milky Way as a point
Then the cluster of galaxies as a dot
You realize that the myths of
Creation and the BIG BANG are just that
Myths (2B : an unfounded or false notion) – M-W.com
(3A : a thing having only an imaginary or unverifiable existence)
God is not an invisible man residing in heaven
For you would have passed “heaven” a long “time” ago
Recalling that one biblical nugget that God is the Word
(All words, making the perception of “reality” possible)
“In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1
And with that tiny dot floating in front of you
The glow of the next galaxy behind your back
You gasp at the miracle of your next breath
Then realize you just inhaled all of existence
Of which you, me, we and they are a part of apart of

“I think we’re part of a greater wisdom that we won’t ever understand, a higher order. Call it what you want. You know what I call it?
The big electron… the big electron. Woooohhhh, woooohhhh, woooohhhh. It doesn’t punish, it doesn’t reward, it doesn’t judge at all. It just is and so are we… for a little while”
– George Carlin
Also that Bill Hicks is right.
“It is just a ride”
“Just an observation,
Maybe I need
Different glasses.”
– Angelo Devlin
