We Believe

September 19, 2023

In large part

What we are

Told to believe

Because if

We never

We would know

What we know

Which is that

We are all one

Consciousness

Which is evident

With or without evidence

However

Beliefs are tricky

They are not formed

In a vacuum

Rather transferred

Via long or short

Indoctrinations

Usually by someone

You trust

Without having

Any credentials

To regurgitate

Similar information

Passed down to them

And nary the intellect

To question the BS

“There is just enough bullshit to hold things together in this country.

Bullshit is the glue that binds us as a nation. Where would we be without our safe, familiar, American bullshit?

Land of the free, home of the brave, the American dream, all men are equal, justice is blind, the press is free, your vote counts, business is honest, the good guys win, the police are on your side, god is watching you, your standard of living will never decline… and everything is going to be just fine—

The official national bullshit story. I call it the American okie doke. Every one, every one of those items is provably untrue at one level or another, but we believe them because they’re pounded into our heads from the time we’re children.

That’s what they do with that kind of thing—pound it into the heads of kids, ‘cause they know the children are much too young to be able to muster an intellectual defense against a sophisticated idea like that, and they know that up to a certain age children believe everything their parents tell them.

And as a result, they never learn to question things. Nobody questions things in this country anymore.

Nobody questions it—everybody is too fat and happy. Everybody’s got a cell phone that’ll make pancakes and rub their balls now— Way too fucking prosperous for our own good. Way too fucking prosperous,

Americans have been bought off and silenced by toys and gizmos. And no one learns to question things.”

– George Carlin

Unfortunately

No amount of proof

Evidence and examples or

Metaphorical scenarios

Can upend an otherwise

Quirky or irrational belief

When the final defense is

“Well, that’s what I believe”

“Because your beliefs are just that,  they are just how you were taught and raised. That doesn’t make them real.”

– Bill Hicks

“Now, believe is a word that I have a serious problem with, right, because it has a “Lie” in the middle.

“DNA” Descendant Now Ancestor

– John Trudell

“I don’t think they should be able to teach religion until you’re 18 years old. If none of your friends had ever heard about Christianity and you just found a Bible in a used book store, you’d jump right on that, wouldn’t you? ‘Oh, this sounds so logical, yes! The cave, and the ark, and — oh, yeah! Hey Donny, I think I found the meaning of life here. “

– Doug Stanhope

Where is the guidance in Ezekiel 23:20

“There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.”

Or believe in the goodness of the Lord from Genesis 19:24

“Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens.”

Oh wait, let me guess….it is out of context. BS

“The whole image is that eternal suffering awaits anyone who questions God’s infinite love.

That’s the message we’re brought up with, isn’t it?

Believe or die!

Thank you, forgiving (for giving) Lord, for all those options.”

– Bill Hicks

Here’s a kicker, some people believe that the earth is flat. To be fair, I don’t “know” that it is or isn’t. However, having jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, looking to the horizon could observe the curvature of the earth. But perhaps that is what I was told to look for, so with the “power” of suggestion, that is what I saw. All jokes aside, the flat earther’s could walk off the edge while looking for it.

“The Flat Earth Society announced it had members all over the globe.”

― Patricia Lockwood

“Living in this country, you’re bound to know, every time you’re exposed to advertising, you realize once again that America’s leading industry, America’s most profitable business is still the manufacture, packaging, distribution and marketing of bullshit.

High-quality, grade-A, prime-cut, pure, American bullshit. And the sad part is, is that most people seem to have been indoctrinated to believe that bullshit only comes from certain places, certain sources: advertising, politics, salesmen. Not true, bullshit is everywhere.

Bullshit is rampant. Parents are full of shit, teachers are full of shit, clergymen are full of shit, and law enforcement people are full of shit. This entire country is completely full of shit, and always has been. From the Declaration of Independence to the Constitution to the Star-Spangled Banner, it’s still nothing more than one big steaming pile of red, white and blue all-American bullshit.”

– George Carlin

As for the notion

We are all one

Consciousness

Is not even

Something that

“Needs” to be believed

Rather examined

Empirically

Such that the oxygen

That we breathe

Was once the oxygen

A tree released

Cut down became

The dwelling in which

We reside

Where it might get

Remodeled and parts

End in a landfill

To decay back into soil

Which may eventually

Grow some food

To provide nourishment

For anyone to contemplate

That there is no need

To believe in anything

“It just is, and so are we, for a little while”

– George Carlin

“My solipsistic worldview
Doesn’t allow me to see
What may be real reality.”

– Angelo Devlin
