Bristling With Fear

Under the guise of warning

That the end is near

Sooner than you think

That much is clear

Needs AR-15’S

‘Cause at any time

Military paratroopers

Could drop in on a dime

Visual dog whistles

Revealing with repetition

The fear that bristles

Emanating from a dude

Who has nothing

Of which to be afraid

Except from the bogeyman

So why not, suggest that

Everyone needs weapons

That are already used to turn

Children into corpses

Not knowing the warning call

Is coming from inside the house

When I know that I am

My own worst enemy

It is hard to imagine

That someone “out” there

Can cause more harm

To me than myself

Or ideologies

Political affiliations

Religious rhetoric

Gender fluidity

Etcetera etc




Those are the people

You know that you could

Walk up to them kindly

In their visual presence

And say, excuse me

To hear them say

To which you could whisper

Boo

Bejeezus out of them
