I Am Building
My house of cards
On a Sisyphean rock
Wish me luck
I am sure it will end
Up like a castle
As soon as I
Get to the top
My house of cards
On a Sisyphean rock
Wish me luck
I am sure it will end
Up like a castle
As soon as I
Get to the top
Freaky dude.
I was talking to a friend and said, “My brother would call it a house of cards.” And we acknowledged the whole world is a house of cards. Money, education, politics, science, religion, our sanity… One little matchstick (or gust of wind) and the whole thing comes tumblin’ down.
What else can we do? Let it be.

We are strange believers all of us
There are stranger truths immortal lust
We rise from slumber he calls our name
Recalls our number abide with pain
//
Reef in a sail at the edge of the world
If eternity should fail
Waiting in line for the ending of time
If eternity should fail
To god’s illusion which I recall
Was our delusion
Before the fall
The angels come and the angels go
But the lord of light shining below
Eternal blackness beyond the stars
We think our wisdom will get that far
At the master’s table the table’s bare
No land of plenty, devastation, despair

Today I dropped a bottle and made a mess in the grocery store. I was cleaning it up when a young man who worked there came up and told me he’s got it. I tried to help him and even offered him some money for the extra work I caused him, but with a big smile and kind eyes he said, “Don’t worry about it. I just want you to have a good shopping experience and to get your groceries.”
I almost burst into tears. Such a small but mighty gesture.
Could we all just help clean up each others’ messes with a cheerful attitude and no expectation of recompense?
I saw my brother in his face. Saints everywhere.
