I Need Witnesses
Observers and recordings
Fact checkers and BS detectors
Along with transcripts
Date and time stamped
Of my chaotic conversations
With copious notes taken
By outside third parties
Regarding the setting, tone
Volume and room temperature
Who was there
Listening or participating
How did they perceive it
Would they be able to
Communicate it back clearly
In an unbiased way
So that it might later be
Deciphered what points I made
Compared to what was intended
Did it go over their head
Or under their radar
Was that a genuine laugh or a
Well disguised courtesy chuckle
Whose feelings were hurt, also
Other unintended consequences
That I might re-regurgitate the
Dialog next time to make it better
More thoughtful, rehearsing every
Nice nuance until I get it right
What could have gone missing
When I was barely listening
Was it the critical clue
Making the difference
Of understanding you
“Reality can not be
Properly checked
In an echo chamber.”
– Angelo Devlin
