Police “play” kits.
Unintentional shameful indoctrination
Police play kits, for sale
Guns, badges and shackles
Pervasive us against them notion
Plastic bullets nary emotion
In a mimicked imitation
Of dominance and death
As an errant solution
Playing with power
Playing for keeps
Playing for real
State power approved
Screened images as
To who gets shot
Taught by products bought
Taut as souls are lost
We will pay the price
Without counting the cost
Moving up to real bullets
Buried down in closed caskets
To serve and protect
The served and protected
Preserve, don’t neglect
The gods have you, selected
Creations you manifested
Indoctrinating the next and
Subsequent
Subjugated generations
That their world will
Be constricted down to
A limited two behavior
Option, of either good or bad
Arbitrarily decided by those
Not adhering to similar rules
Forging and forcing the
Entropy of their psyche
Into a permanent residence
Of cognitive dissonance
Having emerged from a realm
Where that does not exist
Blurred from their vision of
How things could be
Heaven on earth perhaps
Peace and tranquility
Easily worth a chance
Excerpt from Rush’s “2112”
[V. Oracle: The Dream]
‘…I guess it was a dream, but even now it all seems so vivid to me. Clearly yet I see
the beckoning hand of the oracle as he stood at the summit of the staircase…’
‘…I see still the incredible beauty of the sculptured cities and the pure spirit of man revealed in the lives and works of this world. I was overwhelmed by both wonder and understanding as I saw a completely different way to life, a way that had been crushed by the Federation long ago. I saw now how meaningless life had become with the loss of all these things…’
(The lyrical reinterpretation)
Rush “2112”
I wandered home through the silent streets
And fell into a fitful sleep
Escape to realms beyond the night
Dream can’t you show me the light?
I stand atop a spiral stair
An oracle confronts me there
He leads me on light years away
Through astral nights, galactic days
I see the works of gifted hands
That grace this strange and wondrous land
I see the hand of man arise
With hungry mind and open eyes
(musical interlude)
They left the planet long ago
The elder race still learn and grow
Their power grows with purpose strong
To claim the home where they belong
Home to tear the Temples down…
Home to change!
How it is now, has not always been
Must recognize that to change it
Quit playing along in the game
That manufactured consent
And ego perpetuates ad nauseam
Being played and your being, played
The rule of law is not natural
For it goes against your nature
Your divinity you must recapture
Can no longer maintain silence
Condoning adolescent violence
Perpetrated by the hour
Robbed of their true power
The infinite force at their birth
Certainly an incalculable worth
Which we have no right to destroy
It is this world they should enjoy
Not learning that it is fun
At either side, the barrel of a gun
Nice.
