For The Love Of God

October 6, 2020

I’m trying
I am trying
To grasp the concept
That the Bible
Is the word of God

Methinks it is
Actually the dictionary
Word = God
God = Word
John 1:1

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

I suspect it is my lackluster
Ability to comprehend
Where many must
Find comprehension
I find contradiction
Still in little ways I persist
After starting to read the bible *
Too many times to mention
As it depends on who you
Speak with or what you hear
As how it is to be understood
Literally or metaphorically
Figuratively or actually
Also how that gets altered
Depending on what passage
You are reading or listening to
Who believes in which version

So after I cleared my mind
(It was almost empty to begin with)
Am giving the “Bible in 90 days”
An audio book series another shot
Having just listened to
“The Genesis Enigma” “How the
Bible is Scientifically Accurate”

Thinking at first that meant
“Factually” accurate which should
Have taken all of 6 pages to explain
Ironically in its attempt to argue that
“Genesis” is scientifically accurate

…….Makes it factually inaccurate

If you can prove a belief
It is not a belief it’s proof

Psalms I kinda get
They’re like cute little
Nuggets of wisdom
That one might pull
Out of a fortune cookie
“Pride goeth before a fall”
Been there done that
Therefore it makes sense
Regardless of the “source”

However if I were to try to adopt
As I perceive other people’s perspectives
That God is all powerful and
Loves everyone unconditionally
It is tossed out of the window
With lines such as
Genesis 6
5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time 6 The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.

Well, la de da

Proving God really loves fish
Which leads me not to believe
That it is about the difference
Between both good and evil
Rather the interwoven matrix
Of a dichotomous deity doing both

How else can you go from
Creating the whole world to
Being the first perpetrator of
Mass global genuine genocide
(Which will later be not okay with
One of God’s “own” “commandments”

Still being patient enough to wait
4.5 billion years to write about it
Shame regret ego power confusion
Boredom control mass manipulation

If God made all of the “beasts”
And vegetation that reproduces
After its kind male and female
And bipedal earthlings are basically
The same genetically and if “he”
Had the omniscience to know
What was created and their
Created nature why would anyone
Even God sadistic or otherwise
Make a tree of life that curious
Earthlings would want to eat of
Forget some “talking” serpent
That God also would have created
His own worst enemy perhaps…..
I am certainly no author as you can tell
But I understand if a writer or writers
Are developing the story’s characters
They need history and backgrounds
So the story can be better understood
(Especially if it is supposed to be referenced)
Or it is just an important non sequitur
Tossed in to be assumed by the reader
…….. Where did Caine’s wife come from
Prior to that who is the royal “we” in
Gen 26 “Let us make mankind in our image”
“Us” and “our” not only pseudo implies
More than one it emphatically states it

It has been rewritten enough to fix that
More later in various posts
As I am barely out of the gate
Not even to the launch pad
