Music Notes
Music
Commoditized
Like any commodity
It is worth less
Rather
Worthless
The more you hear
Of let us say a
Certain type of music
Seasonally
Whatever message
It has or had is lost
In the sheer
Repetition
Regurgitation and
Rearranging
Along with a constant
Jingle jangle jingle
Tying most together
In a sensory strangle
Don’t get me wrong
I love music
Most all kinds and
Lots of it
From Gershwin to
Guns n Roses
Irish to Iron Maiden
Eagles to Eminem
John Williams to
John Trudell
However if my surroundings
Were saturated with
A catalog of covers
Overused and overrun
I might get overloaded
The nuances and impact
Of lyrics like
.
“Here is the soul of a man
Here in this place for the taking
Clothed in white, stand in the light
Here is the soul of a man
Time to speak with the shaman again
Conjure the jester again
Black dog in the ruins
Is howling my name
So here is the soul of a man”
.
“If Eternity Should Fail”
– Iron Maiden
Or
“What you see is not real,
Those who know will not tell
All is lost sold, your souls
To this brave new world”
“Brave New World”
– Iron Maiden
Or
“My heart doesn’t hurt anymore.
Maybe, that’s what souls are for, to take the hurt the heart can’t take.”
John Trudell
And
“Now, believe is a word that I have a serious problem with, right, because it has a “Lie” in the middle.
“DNA” Descendant Now Ancestor
– John Trudell
.
Would all but
Render them rubbish
If listened to
With a fetish
Conveyed in country
Or pulverized in pop
Become bland
Background beats
To senseless senses
“Just an observation, maybe I need different glasses.”
– Angelo Devlin
