Mine

“The Baby Boomers: whiny, narcissistic, self-indulgent people with a simple philosophy: “Gimme that! It’s mine!””

— George Carlin

That which is mine

Is not really mine

Merely a perception

Of a possession

To satiate a

Greedy obsession

How could I

Possibly own a thing

Person or place

When it was never

Mine to begin with

My my my, where does

Ownership come from

Must flow from

The river denial

As there is no source

That is stagnant

Enough to be held

Or held on to

Especially while

Spinning on an axis

Orbiting a star

Hurling through

The cosmos

Of empty space

In helical form

While constantly

Coagulating into

A “constant”

Mass of protons

Neutrons and electrons

Into a sentient being

That has a perceived

Projection of ego

Subjectively that

It “owns” something

Houses

Cars

Spouses

Children

Money

Objects

Ideas

All preceded by my

Does not make them yours

When you “go”

You will not be able

To take them with you

All of which are as

Temporary as yourself

Though it is trapped

In the language we use

Suggesting illusionary

Ownership

Strange to be

Possessed by an idea

That something

Could be

Mine

“Just an observation,
Maybe I need
Different glasses.”

– Angelo Devlin

Yeah, stupid boomers! LOL – seems like our latest generation is like that too. Why does our culture not help get anyone past the emotional maturity of a 2year old?
