The Rulers Rule
By making made up rules
Because most
Of the ruled
Have not figured out
The rules are made up
Of the rich people
By the connected people
For the powerful people
“Who are these people?”
– Jerry Seinfeld
These are the people we feed
Who do well enough on their own
Because too many people
Want to be like those people
Instead of feeding the hungry people
Or housing the homeless people
Or healing the unhealthy people
You know, the stuff Jesus would do
The treadmill is run
By the runners
Running on it
With very little room
Or time to get back on
Should one fall off
Plus, the longer it goes
The faster it gets
Which is what the rulers
Of the treadmill want
Dangling their opulent carrot
As a motivation of distraction
To ignore the fallen and injured
Who are one in the same
With all alleged “classes”
Even the alleged one percent
Once again, a rulers rule
To keep making rules
“Just an observation,
Maybe I need
Different glasses.”
– Angelo Devlin
You’ve succinctly summed up
the economic rat race . . .
“Socialism, hypnotism,
patriotism, materialism.
Fools making laws
for the breaking of jaws
And the sound
of the keys as they clink
But there’s no time to think.”
~ Bob Dylan
