A Walking Billboard

March 18, 2024

Of contradiction

Clad in Vietnam

Marine regalia

Assumably proud

Of his service

In an unjust war

Brokered from

The French losing

Battle after battle

Was wearing a

Baseball cap

Praising 45 to

Win reelection

With a search engine

At my fingertips

I pulled up the following

“When President Donald Trump canceled a visit to the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery near Paris in 2018, he blamed rain for the last-minute decision, saying that “the helicopter couldn’t fly” and that the Secret Service wouldn’t drive him there. Neither claim was true.

Trump rejected the idea of the visit because he feared his hair would become disheveled in the rain, and because he did not believe it important to honor American war dead, according to four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day. In a conversation with senior staff members on the morning of the scheduled visit, Trump said, “Why should I go to that cemetery? It’s filled with losers.” In a separate conversation on the same trip, Trump referred to the more than 1,800 marines who lost their lives at Belleau Wood as “suckers” for getting killed.”

It occurred desperately to me to

Kindly inquire about the juxtaposition

Of the mixed and contradictory messages

Between his vest and his hat to at least

Grasp at some understanding of WHY??

Why would one support a loser when 45

Considers the vest wearer a loser

Then I realized I don’t usually strike

Up a conversation with billboards

Plus, then I’d be compelled to point out

That his hat was probably made in China

Which isn’t exactly an America first tactic

To build a strong economy here

While spending money, some place else

So, since my writing muse

Presented me with this information

Thought I’d write about it

And leave it here to amuse my

WordPress audience of this blog
