Toxic Tumultuous Tailgate Party
As the longest political prognostication
Is underway of the who is going to do what
On the crooked road to the Whitehouse
Politicians’ version of the superbowl
Everyone sitting on the sidelines
Waiting for the game of voting to start
Whilst drunk or stoned blathering on
How their team is going to do while
Lying to each other about useless stats
Who did or didn’t do what in their last game
Making selfish projections that if the kicker
Misses the kick, how the other team will react
Ad nauseum back and forth to no end
Save to occupy mindless time while idle
In their unfulfilled lives lived from
One distraction to the next distraction
Unlike a paycheck that only goes so far
Chaos, contempt, and crisis are in abundance
The black and white color commentators
Known as talking heads, never run out
Of things to say for they can draw from
Recent history as to how both sides
Fumble (flip-flop) the ball but will use
Their own sides fumble as a positive thing
As both teams vie for the center of left/right
Fracking, well, I wasn’t the quarterback at the time
So now, I might be 1st string, and it is my play to call
Since the “owners” of me are telling me how to play
While the other wannabe quarterback is
Re-decidng his field position on reproductive rights
As his owners are turning up the earpiece in his ear
Telling his teammates what the audience wants to hear
Yet afterwards, when the game is over
Nothing will have gotten done towards
The real problems that need fixing
Most of which is overpopulation
And there is no place for anybody to go
Driving over collapsing bridges
In between overused roads to
Pay for the overpriced goods
Still mostly stocked deep on the shelves
Having acquired a new sense of greed
After the pandemic as what is tolerable
To paychecks, while corporations see
Record gross gross profits that have
Nothing to do with who is playing the game
Save the owners profiting off the Proletariat
Hanging out drinking and smoking at
The toxic tumultuous tailgate party
“I write to expunge the darkness so
That someday light may shine through”
– Angelo Devlin
Yep. All distractions.
“Early screen exposure has been associated with lower cognitive abilities and performance in later years. Language development is also affected by screen time, as it diminishes the quantity and quality of interactions between children and caregivers.”
I would guess that would explain all of us by now. And only is getting worse.
