My Identity Crisis

October 29, 2024

Sometimes………

When I think I am funny

I want to be addressed as a comedian

When I am verbalizing my introspection

I want to be addressed as a philosopher

When I nail two boards together

I want to be addressed as a carpenter

When I am installing a ceiling light

I want to be addressed as an electrician

When I am spouting rhetoric and bullshit

I want to be addressed as a politician

When I count cash withdrawn from an ATM

I want to be addressed as a banker

When I am making myself a meal

I want to be addressed as a cook

If I am cooking for someone else

I want to be addressed as a chef

When I give someone a ride

I want to be addressed as a cab driver

If they are really special, sitting in the back

I want to be addressed as a chauffeur of a limo

When I solve an equation

I want to be addressed as a mathematician

When I am being haughty and arrogant

While I may not like it

I should be addressed as an asshole

When I am loading or unloading a trailer

I want to be addressed as a dock worker

And finally

When I am driving down the road

Thinking of this mindless drivel

Of how people want to be addresed as…..

I want to be addressed as a truck driver

Or more euphemisticly as a

Freight transportation highway road manager

I would just like to know your name
So that I may address you as that and
Hopefully, if I remember to use
Your name in our conversation
As bipedal earthling artists
I will be able to recall you as that name

Instead of some protracted formality
Delaying a potential conversation of the
Significance of our insignificance in an
Infinite never ending, never beginning cosmos
Whereas if we are honest with ourselves
We can be aware of one’s individual subjectivism
Knowing also, our connection with all of infinity

“All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness, experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.”

– Bill Hicks

Who can not identify with that ?

“I just want to be
The antidote for the
Poisonous Kool-aid
People have ingested.”

– Angelo Devlin
