My Best Perception

January 2, 2025

“Youths are passed through schools that don’t teach. Then forced to search for jobs that don’t exist and finally left stranded to stare at the glamorous lives advertised around them.”

– Huey Newton

My best perception

Of the parable of

Pavlov’s pups is

Not to play along

With pings of peals

As per programming

Of pupil patriotism

Per paltry pledges

Via public performances

Whew

Here’s where this came from….

Whilst attending a grandchild’s, for lack of better words, brain competition, (finally, not sport). Held early in the school’s gym.

Sitting on the bleachers waiting for it to start, before the participants came out, the bell had rung. Basically, a short, near what could be considered a brief “fire alarm” burst of sound to start the school children’s day. Followed by… a militaristic monotone recitation of the pledge of allegiance, way too loud.

I get it and understand

“The Pledge of Allegiance, ultimately, is coffee for elementary school students. “… And to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

FUCK, I’m at SCHOOL! Can we say it again? I need a second cup.”

– Lewis Black

However, the gathering attendees (alleged adults), much to my shock, horror, dismay, incredulity, put down their phones, and or stopped their conversations, to stand and face a flag, put their hand over their heart and……. FOLLOWED ALONG……. to no one, leading the “Pledge” for no reason whatsoever. Aaagggghhhhh.

Either everyone rose to play along and pretend they are patriotic by participating (maybe, they’ll get a trophy) or, more likely they are so indoctrinated in their behavior, since near birth, they fail fabulously at their critical thinking skills, to realize, that “The Pledge” was not intended for them.

“And Liberty…

The meaning of Liberty

The dictionary definition…

“Liberty means freedom from government restriction and control”.

Not only do we not have liberty.

Who has less liberty than the children, you make say this. (Pledge)

That’s the irony. They get the least liberty, you’ve had it. We don’t have, they got… [??] They can’t do shit.

We got the oldest children in the world in this country.”

– Doug Stanhope

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the worst of it. It was followed by an extended slogan of grade school gibberish as to thoughtless conduct of behavior towards fellow students.

Certainly not to behave in an individual way of decency, kindness for its own sake, but rather a group programmed one. Triggered to a tee to salivate subconsciously of social conditioning.

“You know what stickers I hate? The ones that say ‘We are the proud parents of an honor student at Mars High’ or whatever other innocent sounding name, that has been assigned by the indoctrination center where their child has been sent to be stripped of his individuality and turned into an obedient-souldead-conformist member of the american consumer culture.

Proud parents? What kind of empty people need to validate themselves through the acheivements of their children?

Here’s a bumper sticker I’d like to see:

‘We are the proud parents of a child whose self-esteem is sufficient that he doesn’t need us promoting his minor scholastic acheivements on the back of our car’ or ‘We are the proud parents of a child who has resisted his teacher’s attempts to break his spirit and bend him to the will of his corporate masters’ ”

– George Carlin

“Pity The Nation”

“Pity the nation whose people are sheep
And whose shepherds mislead them
Pity the nation whose leaders are liars
Whose sages are silenced
and whose bigots haunt the airways
Pity the nation that raises not its voice
but aims to rule the world
by force and by torture
And knows
No other language but its own
Pity the nation whose breath is money
and sleeps the sleep of the too well fed
Pity the nation Oh pity the people of my country
My country, tears of thee
Sweet land of liberty!”

– Lawrence Ferlinghetti

“Humanity” is not very pretty

When it sees itself

In a collective mirror.”

Indeed. It would be nice if people actually meant the words they said, and actually knew the meaning of the words they use. Instead they spit out syllables of sound in order to fit in with whomever they think is the ‘cooler’ group. For example, I’ve heard people say it’s a ‘genocide’ when they’re “misgendered”. “I don’t think that word means what you think it means” –  Inigo Montoya, from the Princess Bride.
With liberty and justice for all is something I can full-heartedly support.
    Is liberty different from freedom?

Both their lead definition is “the quality or state of being free:” m-w.com. I guess the difference is that liberty is action, and freedom is potential.

Which, at least in this country, most sit on their freedom as a concept. Pretending they have freedoms, albeit unused or usable. People do not even recognize how much of what they do is licensed or registered or required by law to behave. Needing a license to drive a car or start a business. As long as you do not go to fast or become a monopoly. Then “authority” in either will restrict your speed.

While others exercising their liberties end up restricting the freedom holder’s liberties because they are doing something. Passing laws or influencing social norms of accepting unacceptable behavior. Lately, based on celebrity or wealth or both.

    Thanks for reading and commenting.
