The Nuances

October 27, 2025

Of any given momentary experience

Given that all experiences are momentary

They are just connected to time’s arrow

Still, they are loaded like a loaded question

With infinite individual intricacies imbued

By layers of doubt and confidence while

Simultaneously questioned and answered

For what caused them and what will they cause

It is fun to contemplate nuances infinite layers

However, time will not stand still, never, ever

So if you try and decipher an experience

Of its component parts that make it up

With its emotional factors and people involved

While trying to recall also, all the “matter” present

Let alone colors, sound, temperature, and light

Because as you think “back” in “time” to remember

What occurred, you get further and further away

Parts get missed, recollections become fuzzy

Besides, while mentally investigating an experience

You are constantly moving forward through new ones

When will those get their due process of nuances

But, let’s say you drive by a car accident

All together now, “you drive by a car accident”

Authorities and ambulances are already on scene

So, there is no need for you to pull over, and God forbid

Help, or get in the way, or just be a nosey Rosey

Stopping won’t stop you from opining on what

Happened, though it may be the furthest thing

From what actually occurred as you drive along

Saying to yourself or your passenger what

Must have caused it, texting, drinking, etc.

Never considering a blown steer tire or deer strike

Somehow, in one’s mind, it is the driver’s fault

Whole narratives emerge without concrete proof

Still, a story is told and repeated, while facts are absent

Save for its simplest reality that of a car accident

Ten people can drive by and have ten different stories

By time it hits a newspaper or news feed

The people who made up their own stories might

Easily and fairly assume that their version is closest

Now apply that logic to the current “train wreck”

Of chaos, collusion, and corruption, the collective is

Experiencing, all caught up in the confusion

Designed to detour itself away from its divinity

With evolving lazer pointer focused distractions

Because power knows it is losing its gross grip

We already know the content of those “files”

Just like we knew the content of Bush’s oil portfolio

Or any of the allegedly elected war criminals

To do their corporate master’s bidding to kill people

At deceptive democracy’s defenseless defense

Now step back a few thousand years and consider

Witnesses testimony of events that could only be

Passed down through rumor, gossip, and hearsay

Playing the telephone game before telephones existed

But now that information is in print, it is accepted as “fact.”

Give or take a few thousand reinterpretations and rewrites

Ooopsie

And just like the car accident

We gather and keep the information

Closest to our liking that suits and soothes

The moment we are in now

Because that is all we ultimately have

The nuances of this momentary experience

“The phantoms
Of our imagination
Are as real as the
Beliefs in our brain”

– Angelo Devlin

Don’t you always make us wake up and think?

I love this blog just for that. And other things.

What do you think of this idea?
Take someone who practices piano and studies music theory for years, very diligently, earnestly, rigorously. After many years, they have mastered their craft to a very high level. Are they a more trustworthy “witness” to identify which key a song is played in than someone whose only musical talent is to turn on a radio?
Or someone who has been trained for truckdriving and knows all the rules and signage of the road and how to interpret the conditions at a very subtle level and has been driving for eons. Might they be an expert more than a teenager who just got her learning permit? 😉

I love this generosity of consideration! Seems that some are better at tuning into the nuances in the infinite layers than others.
Might we be able to discern that we can trust their perceptions more than others?
Maybe it doesn’t matter. You’re giving us a blueprint of how to come to that discernment ourselves. Thank you for your wisdom and teaching!

Unfortunately, opinions take no skill to accept an acceptable narrative that satiates the self (ego). Just a comfortable contrivance to go about ones day without critical thinking.

While it would be great to take credit for this little post, I merely came up with the title and concept, let my muse take over, then edit all their hard work so it felt like I had something to do with it.

A very thought-provoking piece, Angelo! A lot to consider and to even reframe internally. Still, loved how you end it: “all we ultimately have / The nuances of this momentary experience.” Grateful for this precious read, my friend. With appreciation, sending you light and blessings 🙌 ✨ 🙏 🌟
