I Can Only Think
About infinity
For a brief time
Otherwise, my head hurts
The same goes
For a moment
Infinity is forever
Moments are gone
As soon as they arrive
While both are
Experienced simultaneously
Besides, how can you
Think about either separately
When they are both connected
Moments blend together
From one moment to the next
In a specific direction
According to “time’s” arrow
Usually followed linearly
With nary a do over
(Eggs never unbreak) yet…
“You can’t make an omelet,
without breaking eggs.”
No two people can step
Into the same river
Likewise, one person can
Never step in the same river
Everything has changed
From water gone by to
Sensations felt of cold and wet
Indifferent to radical
Perceptions take place
Each momentary instant
Depending on what was
Carried into the river
Or crossing a street
Everything is the same while
Nothing is remotely similar
“Just an observation,
Maybe I need
Different glasses.”
