Tribeless

October 31, 2018

“I’m not attached to your world
Nothing heals, nothing grows

‘Cause it’s a great big white world
And we are drained of our colors

We used to love ourselves
We used to love one another

All my stitches itch
My prescription’s low”

“Great Big White World”

– Marilyn Manson

Even to my own chosen family

Am more tolerable than loveable

A means to an end as it were

An angry self placed on a shelf

Do I choose to be that lone wolf

Unfortunately, I suppose that I do

Some of it though seems to be the

Wiring or perhaps old programming

Like a bad habit that only gets worse

Left unchecked will lead to remorse

.
“My passionate sense of social justice and social responsibility has always contrasted oddly with my pronounced lack of need for direct contact with other human beings and human communities.”

– Albert Einstein

I am certainly no genius, suspecting that

My external concerns, mask internal ones

In meager attempts to fix and understand

What seems a tad broke in need of repair

Like a typical guy ignores the instructions

Ego will get it all figured out in due time

Yeah, right, like that is going to happen

“I hurry through my life
never stopping to see
How beautiful
it was meant to be

I’m just a prisoner
in a king’s disguise”
Broken dreams
as we shuffle by

//

We now have everything
Or so people say
But now this emptiness
Haunts me every day

We seek the lion’s share
Never knowing why
Come alive
Spread your wings and fly

Pieces of eight
The search for the money tree
Don’t cash your freedoms in for gold

Pieces of eight
Can’t buy you everything
Don’t let it turn your heart to stone

“Pieces Of Eight”

– Styx

.
“We teach best what we need to learn most ourselves.”

– Richard Bach

.
Whilst writing this, a Pandora jazz station had the audacity to play Melody Gardot’s

.

“Your Heart Is As Black As Night”

.

So that I might see me, as my wife must

.
“Your Heart Is As Black As Night”

Melody Gardot

“Your eyes may behold
But the story I’m told
Is your heart is as black as night

Your lips may be sweet
Such that I can’t compete
But your heart is as black as night

I don’t know why
You came along
At such a perfect time

But if I let you hang around
I’m bound to lose my mind

Cause your hands may be strong
But the feeling’s all wrong

Your heart is as black as night

I don’t know why
You came along
At such a perfect time

But if I let you hang around
I’m bound to lose my mind

Cause your hands may be strong
But the feeling’s all wrong

Your heart is as black
Your heart is as black

Oh your heart is as black as night”

Well, (hopefully) perhaps it is not quite that bad, going on twenty one years. Must have a few ounces of humanity in this tin man.

.
“I don’t fit in anywhere, man, I really don’t. I don’t agree with anything either, not even what I just said so, think you see the problem here. Stranded without a clue.”

– Bill Hicks
