The drips and drabs

Of shock and awe…..shit

Really, another day

Of nothing getting done

Congresspersons

Poorly performing in

The dog and pony show

Of endless he said she said

Mindless distractions

Like first time drama students

Primping and preening

In front of an audience

Backstabbing and hiding

Behind the curtains

The trouble with

Getting nothing done

Is that it is

Harder than it looks

Like reality TV stars

Pretending to be pretending

Not to be noticed

By being noticeable

For if their mission

Is truly meant to

Serve the “people”

The first thing

They could / should do

Is follow and apply

Thomas Jefferson’s advice

Regarding governments

Dismantle what we have

Start a new paradigm shift

Evolve into something

That matches our best desires

For as allegedly good

That democracy

Is supposed to be

It is inherently corrupt

Because it was

Designed by humans

Which is not to say

A better way of living

Could not be created

(After all it is our “right”)

Plus within our capacity

It is just a matter of

Detaching ourselves

From what doesn’t work

If democracy was a car

You would return it

Under the lemon law

Perhaps we could use

The Thomas Friedman model

That ‘The World Is Flat”

(No, not really) rather

We are all

Interconnected and interdependent

Reliant on each other globally

All we have to do

Is become aware and

Start behaving like it

Transcending borders

Languages religion race

Time zones etc…..

I’m sure we could

Accomplish all that

Even if we did it in

Drips and drabs
