The blurred lines

Are written with

Detailed accuracy

Setting precedents

For the President

TV shows like

“The West Wing”

“House Of Cards”

“Designated Survivor”

Just to name a few

Where life imitates art

Stead of art imitating life

Housing and

Feeding one’s family

Is too mundane

So the carrot

Of consumerism

Takes hold of

Waning attention spans

Enticing everyone to

Keep ahead of the Jones’s

In the hopes life will have

More meaning

With more stuff

Sold between

Collusion and criminality

Treason and tweets

Deals and deceptions

As no one would

Or willfully

Conduct themselves

In the manner of

What is viewed

On the telescreen

While neither trying

To manifest a conspiracy

Nor perpetuate one

For example by

Blaming Hollywood

We all each have

Our own responsibility

In playing this game

How we choose to play

Is entirely on each individual

Accepting irrational

Immoral outlandish

Trumped up arguments

As salve for a bruised ego

By desperately

Wanting to believe

That an outsider

Could fix this

Alleged democracy

Though it is merely

A dog and pony show

With the tail

Wagging the dog

As the rest are

Ponying up

To their puppet master

Dangling by ropes

Strong enough

To be hung by

For being

Fact and truth

Blurred its way

Into entertainment

As soon as

They were referred to

As “shows”

Profit centers

Peddling disinformation

Between the featured

Advertisements that “pay”

To keep the drama

On the air

And the people

Fighting amongst themselves

Over concepts

That keep them separate

Nothing blurry in the following

‘Cause that’s all you ever hear about in this country. It’s our differences. That’s all the media and the politicians are ever talking about–the things that separate us, things that make us different from one another.

That’s the way the ruling class operates in any society. They try to divide the rest of the people. They keep the lower and the middle classes fighting with each other so that they, the rich, can run off with all the fucking money!

Fairly simple thing. Happens to work. You know? Anything different–that’s what they’re gonna talk about–race, religion, ethnic and national background, jobs, income, education, social status, sexuality, anything they can do to keep us fighting with each other, so that they can keep going to the bank!

You know how I define the economic and social classes in this country? The upper class keeps all of the money, pays none of the taxes. The middle class pays all of the taxes, does all of the work. The poor are there just to scare the shit out of the middle class. Keep ’em showing up at those ‘jobs’.
