Clinging

December 15, 2020

Whatever it is you cling to it will disappear

Religion

Nationality

Race

Beliefs

Money

Sexuality

Gender

Health

Education

Politics

Justice

Likewise yourself will no longer be here

I suppose you are clinging to that too

Still try as you might what you hold is dear

Just must ask yourself over and again

Why

Do you use any of the above

For the benevolence of all

Or do you concetrate

Isolate on each one

Like your perspective

On each is the best

Tearing other’s clingings asunder

If they are not your own

Religion – the one you were taught

Nationality – accident of birth

Race – better than the rest

Beliefs – solid….from indoctrination

Money – never enough

Sexuality – defined or loose

Gender – specific or fluid

Health – could be better w/o effort

Education – could have more free w/o effort

Politics – your party is always right

Justice – blind with exceptions

That must be the best part of dying

There is nothing left to cling to

“Just an observation, maybe I need different glasses.”

– Angelo Devlin
