Unheard Of
Where are the internal ears, to hear the voice, that does not speak? From a throat that has no vocal chords.
Oh….
“God is the voice that says, I am not here.. “
Don DeLillo
“Falling Man”
But seriously, how is it, we can hear this voice? The one you are listening to right now, as you read this. Certainly, while it is in my voice. (the words that found their way on to this screen, through my fingertips, that voice.)
Yet, not the voice that emanates from my throat and mouth, which has a certain kind of squeaky, Kermit the frog’s pitch and tone to it.
Great, now you/I know what this originally sounded like.
Which you are trying to audibly picture through your recollection what Kermit sounds like and are desperately attempting to emulate with your voice, listening to with the ears, you don’t have either. Try it on this.
“Do I talk to myself, I don’t think I talk to myself.”
– Jack Canfield
Holy s#!&, I am talking to my self. Which, when you repeat the above in a James Earl Jones / Darth Vader voice, or sing it back in a Stephen Tyler voice will realize, you are talking and singing to your self.
Before considering whether or not to ask the question of the psychotherapist, of the different sounds the voices in your head is making, while talking and singing to yourself as to “where the ears are ?”
To which they will say, that question, up until now has been unheard of.
“Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on, ah
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear
Sing with me if it’s just for today
Maybe tomorrow,
The good Lord will take you away”
– Aerosmith
This is super deep! Your voice is spinning through whoever loaned me their ears to hear. Thanks for taking up my whole day, knowing I’ll be chewing on this. (wait! whose teeth??)
