They Think He Is Innocent
Because they think
They know “him”
Proof matters not
What counts is
Empathy for one
Who has none
Projections based
On wishful thinking
Only a few can see
Through the stench
Of his wretchedness
Because it is right
Under their noses
Even though the
Authorities have
Been notified
He distracts them
With implausible
Justifications
Which is easier to
Accept, then investigate
After all, he is who he is
Perhaps the above
Applies to 45
But it also applies to
Jeffrey Dahmer or the
Likes of Bernie Madoff
People presenting
A public persona
While demons run amok
In the malignant minds
Of the power hungry
Seeking control
Over others to feed
Insatiable narcissism
Wealth insecurities and
A deep desire to be loved
“Gladwell discusses the first of these social strategies in Chapter Three. (“Talking to Strangers”) “Truth-Default Theory,” or TDT, is a theory developed by psychologist Tim Levine as he sought to understand why humans are bad at identifying deception.
Through a series of experiments that tasked participants with determining whether a stranger was lying or telling the truth, Levine discovered that humanity has a bias toward truth. Levine’s findings suggested that we tend to take things at face value and assume that the people we interact with are behaving honestly.”

It is the people
Closest to the forest
Who can not see the trees
Unless you have 24/7 intimate involvement
Tracking, observing, and cataloging each minute
Detail of a person you perceive as trustworthy
All you have is the projection of your thoughts
Innately geared towards a bias of truth, ooops *
Which is not to suggest that humanity
Ought to do a 180⁰ and not trust anyone
Or anything, but at some point, ought to be
Questioning beyond the superficial layer
People convey under their multitude of masks
Masks they themselves do not know they have
Let alone which one is being worn at any
Given moment indifferent in different surroundings
Timing, circumstances, company kept, agendas
Fear, friends, family, foes, society, and self

“Trump made 30,573 false or misleading claims as president.
Nearly half came in his final year.”

In a lifelong career of pretending
To be wealthy and successful so
That he would be loved by those
Actually, wealthy and successful
Culminating in a scripted edited
TV show hyping his celebrity
A facade of make-up and lights
Through failures and bankruptcies
Loomed constant in “real” life
And still, his followers………
Mostly poor and unrecognized
Think he is innocent
“Just an observation,
Maybe I need
Different glasses.”
