No One Chose
Hate over love
They only chose
One illusion over
A different illusion
To satiate their
Perception of what
Will benefit them self
The most for themselves
In a low stake gamble
That anything in their
Life will change one iota
Because that is how
Illusions work
Illusion:
1 a (2) : something that deceives or misleads intellectually
1 b (1) : perception of something objectively existing in such a way as to cause misinterpretation of its actual nature

Since either had taken on
The characteristics of
Dumbo’s magic feather
The followers wanted to
Believe they could only fly
If they held on to the feather
The trick is to understand
One does not need the
“Magic feather” to fly
It is one’s belief
In themselves
Misprojected onto an
Anthropomorphic screen
Mouthing falsehoods and
Improbable outcomes
It is only clear to discerning ears
To realize, neither stated any
Provable outcomes of
Intended promises with
Anything but vague innuendoes
Guiding, easily led sheep
On both or either side
To fall into emotional
Traps of fear and projections
Of what may happen
Based on essentially nothing
Which ought to give rise
To choose to learn to
Love one’s self so as to
Share that and spread it around
From a place of knowing
Instead of being told / sold
How you are supposed to feel
And how your life will be
Affected by an official
Sitting in an oval office
“The phantoms
Of our imagination
Are as real as the
Beliefs in our brain”
– Angelo Devlin
For at present we all tend to one mistake; we tend to make politics too important. We tend to forget how huge a part of a man’s life is the same under a Sultan and a Senate, under Nero or St Louis. Daybreak is a never-ending glory, getting out of bed is a never-ending nuisance; food and friends will be welcomed; work and strangers must be accepted and endured; birds will go bedwards and children won’t, to the end of the last evening.

O God of Earth and Altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die,
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
Take away our pride.”
[G.K. Chesterton: English Hymnal]

Here’s the next verse:
From all that terror teaches,
from lies of tongue and pen,
from all the easy speeches
that comfort cruel men,
from sale and profanation
of honour and the sword,
from sleep and from damnation,
deliver us, good Lord!
