An Odd Step Forward

October 2, 2025

Through the minefield

Of useless euphemisms

Not even treading lightly

Across the landscape of

Dastardly deadly deception

Ol’ Petey H wants to rename

The Defense Department

Back to the War Department

Oddly enough, I’m all for it

Not that I am looking for wars

But at least the collective

Can stop kidding itself

It kills people under

The guise of defense

Like some protection racket

For covetous corporations

Always on the offensive

Wasting time and resources

Creating a need “to defend”

By attacking the innocent patsy

Remember the Afghanistan distraction

Including building 7

The near body-less crash in Shanksville

Or the plane-less hole at the Pentagon

So we could go and attack Iraq

Think of the “lives” that could have been saved

If the disguised dictator George W

Had just announced, the US (which is we / us)

Is going to Iraq to slaughter innocent people

So that Haliburton’s Dick C’s could profit

Along with the Bush oil families

Via, not an actual declaration of war

(That would actually reveal the blood on our hands)

But rather, AUMF Authorization for Use of Military Force

Hmmmm, AU MF…… that’s Gold Mother F’rs.

How about SUHD Sanctioned Use of Human Decency

Oh yeah, no gross gross profits in that….

Ooopsie

Now, the DOW can just declare war

For the sake of declaring war

Think of the money to be saved from

All the posturing and distractions

It takes to convince people that

Their hard earned money is going

Straight to bloody bloodshed for

More weapons and casket purchases

“I don’t mind about the war. It’s one of the things I like to watch, if it is a war going on. ‘Cause then I know then if our side is winning, if our side is losing.

Roger Waters

“What God Wants, part 1”

From “Amused To Death”

“We like war! We’re a war-like people! We like war because we’re good at it! You know why we’re good at it? Cause we get a lot of practice. This country’s only 200 years old, and already, we’ve had 10 major wars. We average a major war every 20 years in this country, so we’re good at it! And it’s a good thing we are; we’re not very good at anything else anymore! Huh? Can’t build a decent car, can’t make a TV set or a VCR worth a fuck, got no steel industry left, can’t educate our young people, can’t get health care to our old people, but we can bomb the shit out of your country all right! Huh? Especially if your country is full of brown people; oh, we like that, don’t we? That’s our hobby! That’s our new job in the world: bombing brown people. Iraq, Panama, Grenada, Libya, you got some brown people in your country, tell them to watch the fuck out or we’ll goddamn bomb them!

“Well when’s the last white people you can remember that we bombed? Can you remember the last white— can you remember ANY white people we’ve ever bombed?
.
The Germans, those are the only ones and that’s only because they were trying to cut in on our action. They wanted to dominate the world! BULLSHIT! THAT’S OUR FUCKING JOB! !”

– George Carlin

So it is an odd step forward

While going backwards

“I write to expunge the darkness
So that someday
Light may shine through”

– Angelo Devlin

“The Bravery Of Being Out Of Range”

You have a natural tendency
To squeeze off a shot
You’re good fun at parties
You wear the right masks

You’re old but you still
Like a laugh in the locker room
You can’t abide change
You’re at home on the range

You opened your suitcase
Behind the old workings
To show off the magnum
You deafened the canyon

A comfort a friend
Only upstaged in the end
By the Uzi machine gun
Does the recoil remind you

Remind you of sex
Old man what the hell you gonna kill next
Old timer who you gonna kill next
I looked over Jordan and what did I see

Saw a U.S. Marine in a pile of debris
I swam in your pools
And lay under your palm trees
I looked in the eyes of the Indian

Who lay on the Federal Building steps
And through the range finder over the hill
I saw the frontline boys popping their pills
Sick of the mess they find

On their desert stage
And the bravery of being out of range
Yeah the question is vexed
Old man what the hell you gonna kill next

Old timer who you gonna kill next
Hey bartender over here
Two more shots
And two more beers

Sir turn up the TV sound
The war has started on the ground
Just love those laser guided bombs
They’re really great

For righting wrongs
You hit the target
And win the game
From bars 3,000 miles away

3,000 miles away
We play the game
With the bravery of being out of range
We zap and maim

With the bravery of being out of range
We strafe the train
With the bravery of being out of range
We gained terrain

With the bravery of being out of range
With the bravery of being out of range
We play the game
With the bravery of being out of range

– Roger Waters

Always good to question what we think! How do we know if any of that is real? Or if any of these wars have taken place?

I saw someone show a video from Hamas where kids are taught how to look dead and then got caught scratching an itch. Maybe it’s all a movie.

Maybe the gold and the money are also just as fake, but all of it gets our spleens in a ruckus.

    Thanks for poking our brains!

Yes. Much better than lying. Dept of war is at least honest. Now if they can call “aborting” babies as killing them. What else might we be able to tell the truth about?
