Simultaneously
We are one
With the whole
Likewise
The whole is
One within us
We are the star
A trillion
Galaxies away
Exploding furiously
Lending its remnants to
Nearby planets and stars
As well as the
Homeless drug addict
Surviving on the street
Or the billionaire in one
Of their many mansions
The elephant, still being
Killed for their ivory tusks
The plastic in the
Overfished oceans
We are the hope and despair
In the perceived future
And the unobtainable past
We have unbelievable faith
That we will continue on to
Exist in some form or another
While behaving as if we will
Kick the bucket by nightfall
Longing desperately for change
Holding on to horrible habits
Simultaneously
“I am not the voice
For the voiceless
I am the voice
For the deaf
Those who do not
Need to hear what I say. “
– Angelo Devlin
The whole post is genius. And this…
“I am not the voice
For the voiceless
I am the voice
For the deaf
Those who do not
Need to hear what I say. “
Is perhaps deeper than anything I’ve ever read.
I’m struck by how many people think they can be the voice for the voiceless, imposing their own will upon those they claim to be defending. The imperious “savers” – who might be more invested in their role (and title) than in the requests of the ones they champion.
We can all lend a hand. Seems you have figured out the most kind way to do that.
