The Fear Carrot

Is being dangled while

The economic indicators

Are riding the train

Like a dead drumbeat

Ominous warnings and

Foreboding forecasts

Permeate the media

As to the “potential” collapse

Of one’s current livelihood

Is imminently approaching

If not already predetermined

Meanwhile, not sure if this is true

Yet, what I learned long ago is

That if the trains are running

Carrying cars and cargo

The most obvious is lumber

Since it can be seen

Everything is just fine

So why dangle

The fear carrot

Because that is how

Everything is just fine

Fear motivates

People to consume

Which is what our economic

House of cards is built on

And not the timber

Riding the trains
