We Made It Up

The more one

Thinks about it

The more one realizes

The reality of reality

Is something

We made up

Not with molecules

Which would be tricky

But rather……words

Such that, like molecules

Have always existed

The analogy being

That, as molecules

Change shape and

Transform back and forth

Between waves and particles

So do words and definitions

Interpretations and intentions

Nothing (no thing) is a thing

It has to be, it is right there

Or rather in a vacuum

Which too is something

The collective consciousness

Made up

We made it up

Isn’t that neat

How powerful we must be

Reality exists because

We have a word for it

That is so cool

Life, death, love, hate, create, destroy

Race, sex, value, values

Morals, morality, immorality

Besides, all are open to interpretation

Perception, content, and context

It all exists because

We made it up

Every _____________, whatever

Money, we made up….. money *

A bum or a billionaire

(Which lately, is one and the same)

Is still just a person

Like all other eight billion persons

Or nine billion or so if one has

The tendency to include fetuses

Or 117 billion, if corpses are included

Laws

We made up laws

Thou shalt not kill

Hey, good law

Except when profits are at stake

Then what is made up is

Open to interpretation

Turning persons into enemies

Or undesirables

Made up by someone or

A group of someone’s

Therefore, to be terminated (exterminated)

With extreme prejudice

Killed, not by deadly means

Rather, with euphemisms and innuendoes

Neutralized, collateral damage, etcetera

Still dead, but in a more palatable way

It is much easier to accept death of

Non-combatants, usually (children)

Or “friendly fire” when soldiers

“Accidentally” kill their own team members

That eases the conscience

Of the unconscious

So much for “Thou shalt not kill”
